Day 1: Arrival in Pinnawala

Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, a representative from PL Sri Lanka Tours will greet you and escort you to your hotel in Pinnawala (Hotel Elephant Park). Spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying the serene surroundings.

Day 2: Pinnawala – Anuradhapura – Mihintale

Start the day with a journey to Mihintale, a historic city rich in religious and cultural significance. Visit Mahinda’s Hill, the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, and explore the ancient wildlife sanctuary, one of the world’s oldest.


Proceed to Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to visit the Atamasthana (Eight Sacred Places), including:

  • Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya: A branch of the sacred Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.
  • Ruwanweli Maha Seya: A magnificent stupa built by King Dutugamunu.
  • Thuparamaya: The first stupa built in Sri Lanka.
  • Other significant sites like Lovamahapaya, Abhayagiri Dagaba, Jetavanaramaya, Mirisaveti Stupa, and Lankarama.


Stay overnight at a hotel in Anuradhapura.

Day 3: Anuradhapura – Polonnaruwa – Minneriya – Sigiriya

Travel to Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka, to explore its remarkable archaeological treasures, including the royal palace of King Parakramabahu I and Hindu temples.


Later, visit Minneriya National Park, where you can witness the famous elephant gathering and spot other wildlife like leopards, sloth bears, and sambar deer.


Conclude the day with an overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 4: Sigiriya – Matale – Kandy

Begin your day by climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress (Lion Rock), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.


En route to Kandy, visit:

  • Dambulla Golden Temple: A stunning cave temple complex adorned with murals and Buddha statues.
  • Spice Garden in Matale: Learn about Sri Lanka’s spice heritage.
  • Muthumariamman Temple: A colorful Hindu shrine dedicated to the goddess Mariamman.


Spend the night in Kandy.

Day 5: Kandy City Tour

Discover the cultural and historical gems of Kandy, including:

  • Temple of the Tooth Relic: A revered Buddhist site.
  • Bahirawakanda Temple: Famous for its giant Buddha statue.
  • Kandy Viewpoint: Offering panoramic views of the city.
    Enjoy shopping, a visit to the Gem Museum, and a Kandy Cultural Dance Show before returning to your hotel.

Day 6: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Travel to Nuwara Eliya, the “City of Lights,” known for its cool climate and colonial charm. Highlights include:

  • Ramboda Falls: A spectacular 109-meter waterfall.
  • Damro Tea Centre: Experience a tea factory tour and tasting.
  • Gregory Lake and Nuwara Eliya Post Office.


Stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 7: Horton Plains – Ella

 Explore Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO site famous for its grasslands, cloud forests, and wildlife.


Then, head to Ella for the night. 

Day 8: Ella – Tissamaharama – Yala

Visit the following attractions in Ella:

  • Little Adam’s Peak: A scenic trek with breathtaking views.
  • Nine Arch Bridge: A marvel of colonial-era engineering.
  • Ravana Falls: A picturesque waterfall steeped in legend.


In the evening, embark on a thrilling safari at Yala National Park, home to leopards, elephants, and other wildlife.

Day 9: Yala – Mirissa
